Review of Uptown’s Smoke Shop in Nashville, TN

/ by / Tags: , , , ,

On Memorial day, I purchased and smoked a cigar at Uptown’s cigar shop in Nashville, Tennessee.  The address of the shop is 3900 Hillsboro Pike #34 Nashville, Tennessee.

First of all, this is a honest review and I am not affiliated with the cigar shop in any way. This is my first review of a shop since starting the blog.

Details of the Review of the Cigar Shop

When I purchased a CAO flat head cigar from Uptown’s on Memorial day, I was with some family members. An employee offered to help us with our selections. The employee was very nice, knowledgeable and not the least bit pushy.

We got there at 2:30 and they closed early at 4:00 for the holidays. They did not rush us out. Quite the opposite, they where very pleasant and allowed us to enjoy our cigars and watch the ball game. Additionally, the atmosphere was great. The store was very clean and well keep. The humidor was well keep and great working order.

A view from inside the Shop

They have some of the most comfortable leather chairs that I have ever sat on. Their was complementary coffee there too.  Also, there were two tv’s in the shop. They had many different cutters there, so you could get the desired cut for your cigar. The ventilation in the shop was working fantastic.

They do have a sign up in the store asking that if you purchase the cigars online you smoke them there. They have such a great smoking area that people are buying their cigars online and not from them. Even though I buy many cigars on line,  I can certainly appreciate their problem. If you are going to a shop you should purchase  a cigar or two from a shop while you are using their facilities.

I gave all the details of the experience as I can recall them. It must also be noted that I didn’t at any time tell any of the workers that I blog about cigars. I highly recommend if you are in the area, you stop by and visit the shop.

Cigar Review– Perla Del Mar L Maduro

This cigar is the first one that I have smoked since doing the blog that I don’t recommend. The cap of the cigar was loose and the cut was hard to get clean.

The cigar was average at best, It did not burn evenly and it had to be re lit several times. My preference for cigars are maduro’s ( like this one), however, I didn’t like this one.

Details of the Smoke

I smoked the cigar with friends. I had coffee with the cigar. Coffee is my favorite drink to complement a cigar. The smoke took about a 1 and half hours. The aroma of the smoke was OK. A guillotine cutter was used. To lit the cigar a butane lighter was used. It was well keep at 70% humidity.

Cigar Review –Arturo Fuente Hemingway

Arturo Fuente Hemingway

I recently smoked a Arturo Fuente Hemingway classic cigar. The smoke was great. I have to let it be known, that this has always been one of my favorite cigars.

It has bit of a sweet taste on the wrapper. When smoked the sweetness is very faint. The cigar had a great taste, as well as a pleasant aroma. Equally important, this was a tasteful cigar without being over bearing. Furthermore, this is a great looking cigar.

Uniquely I believe this cigar is better than the reviews by others (comparatively they can be seen at the bottom of the post). I would defiantly recommend this cigar to anyone interested in a great cigar.

Details of the Cigar

The Fuente Hemingway Classic premium cigars are handcrafted in the old Cuban tradition. Using the original Fuente perfecto molds from the 1920s, the cigars are blended with vintage Dominican filler and binder encased in Cameroon wrappers for a mellow smoke with delicate notes of cedar and spice.

Size:7 x 48
Country:Dominican Republic
Wrapper Origin:African

Details of the Smoke

The cigar was smoke in a well vented area. Additionally the cigar was smoked with my father. The smoke lasted 2 hours and 15 minutes. It was keep in a local cigar shop. Also, a guillotine cutter was used and the cigar was lit with a butane lighter. Additionally I drank ice water with the cigar. The cigar was lit was and I never had to lit it again. It burned evenly.

Kristoff Ligero Maduro Matador

This Kristoff cigar was a great smoke. You better like maduro’s because this is a strong cigar. Of course it’s one my favorite cigars too. I would highly recommend this to everyone, with the exception of maybe a novice smoker. The cigar has a very nice look to it. Likewise the cigar burned evenly. In addition to being a great smoke it has a very unique look to it, with a pigtail head.

Details of the Smoke

I smoked the cigar with two other people. The smoke took approximately 2 hours. It was well kept in a humidor at 70% humidity. The cigar was cut by a guillotine cutter. It was lit by a butane lighter. I drank a unsweetened tea with it. Being a maduro I would recommend coffee to be couple with the cigar and not tea. Additionally it was smoked in a well vented area. Equally important to the great taste, the aroma of the cigar was fantastic.

Cigar Review Leaf Oscar Corojo

Cigar Review Leaf by Oscar Corojo

I recently smoked Leaf Corojo cigar. The smoke was overall very good. It was a little on the strong end, but very enjoyable. The cigar itself came wrapped up in a leaf. This cigar was very good tasting, even though it was a little on the strong end, it still was a smooth smoke. The cigar was well made and I would highly recommend it to someone other than a novice cigar smoker to try.

 Cigar Review

I recently smoked a CAO America Monument cigar. This was a very good smoke. It did get a little stronger as the smoke continued. I really enjoyed this cigar. I would recommend this to someone, however, most likely not for a novice smoker. The barber pole gave it a nice contrast. It had some sweet and slightly rougher flavors.

Details of the Smoke

I smoked this cigar with my father. The smoke lasted 2 hours and 10 minutes. It should be noted I am typically a slower cigar smoker than most, also there was someone to talk to. I drank coffee with the cigar. It burned evenly, however, I did have to relight it once. The cigar was able to hold ash for about a inch. With the smoke there was a nice but, a little on the stronger end aroma. It was well keep in a humidor at 70%. It was lit by a butane lighter. Typical cut with a guillotine cutter sliced even from the head of the cigar.

Cigar Review–Oliva Serie V Melanio figurado

/ by

Oliva Serie V Melanio figurado Grand Reserva Limitada

This was a terrific cigar! It had a very good flavor from the beginning to the end of the smoke. It burned even through out. The Oliva Melanio was very smooth with coffee and caramel creamy flavors. I would highly recommend this cigar to anyone. Great smoke for the enthusiast. Not to harsh for a novice smoker.

Here are some facts about the stick.

  • It’s 6.5 inches long with a 52 ring gauge size.
  • Natural color wrapper.
  • Origin is Nicaragua.
  • The wrapper origin is Ecuadorian.
  • Wrapper leaf is Sumatra.
  • Typical price is 14.00 a piece.
  • The Melanio versions were first created in 2012.
  • It’s commonly sold in either box of 10, pack of 5 or singles.

Personalized facts from my smoke.

As you can see from the picture above it’s tightly wrapped and didn’t need to be ashed very often.  Some details about this smoke are: drank a Dr. Pepper with it, took 1 hour and 10 minutes to smoke. Smoked by myself. It had a very nice aroma to it. Was smoked in a open well vented area. Keep in a humidor at 70% humidity. Was cut with a cutter that sniped off the end with a nice clean cut. Lit with a butane lighter. Never had to be re lighted.

Some accolades of the cigar.
